THERAPY LASER

What is Laser Therapy?

How can it Help your Pet?

Laser Therapy is:

  • Safe
  • Non-invasive
  • Pain-free during treatments
  • A drug-free treatment alternative
  • Less stressful for your pet than other treatments
  • Often soothing to your pet

Laser Therapy is used to:

  • Reduce pain and discomfort
  • Speed healing
  • Increase mobility and motion in joints
  • Reduce swelling

How does Laser Therapy work?

  • Photons of laser light penetrate deep into tissue
  • This increases the cellular activity within the tissue.

What to expect:

There is no patient sedation or restraint required and the experience is usually very comforting to them.  Your pet will feel a mild, warm sensation that is very relaxing.  A majority of patients may show a change within 12 to 24 hours after a laser treatment.  Even though improvement is seen often after the first visit, most patients will require several treatments for greatest benefit. Actual treatment time can range from seconds up to many minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.

How often should a patient be treated?

Acute conditions may need to be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by serious pain.  More chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2 to 3 times a week, slowing to once every week or two as improvement is noticed.

How many treatments does it take?

This will depend on the nature of the condition being treated.  For some acute conditions 1-2 treatments may be sufficient.  Those of chronic nature can and may require many/several  treatments.  Some conditions may require ongoing care to control pain.  Treatments are broken into 3 different packages.

                                          1. A single treatment of up to 3 sites

                                          2. A three treatment package for up to 3 sites

                                          3. A six treatment package for up to 3 sites

Which pets benefit from Laser Therapy?

If your pet is in pain, has inflammation, or has a wound laser therapy can be beneficial:

  • Pets with arthritis, hip dysplasia or fracture.
  • Pets who just have had surgery.
  • Pets with skin problems (hot spots, lick granuloma, skin infection or ear infection).
  • Pets with a recent injury (strain/sprain, bite or open wound).

What role does Laser Therapy play?

Laser therapy can be used in conjunction with other treatment programs to enhance results, shorten healing time, and reduce your pet's discomfort.
