Meet our Doctors:

Dr. Kevin Cederberg:

I've had an interest in animals since I was knee high to a grasshopper.  Growing up on a farm in Russell County, Ks there was plenty of exposure to animals both large and small.  From raising 4-H livestock and caring for the family pets to working with embryo transfer in cattle while in college at Fort Hays State University, my experience has been broad.

During veterinary school at Kansas State University, my interests turned to surgery, primarily in small animals.  I have worked in the small animal field since graduating in 1987 and started Countryside Pet Clinic in Andover in 1993.  In 1996 we moved to our current clinic and in 2002 we opened our Pet Resort. The Resort allows us more room and a quieter environment in the clinic, which is better for our patients and staff. Surgery remains one of my main veterinary interests, along with dentistry and pain management.

My wife, Marilyn, and I have 3 children, 2 dogs, a cat, a gerbil and 2 fish.  I enjoy watching the family in their various sporting events; working out, snow skiing, going back to the farm, helping out the science classes at school, and just keeping busy.

Present and past memberships include the Wichita, Kansas and American Veterinary Medical Associations, American Animal Hospital Association, and the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.  I have also been on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Wichita and the Kansas State University Pet Trust program.

Dr. David Whetstone:

I grew up on a small farm in Northeast Kansas.  We raised cows, pigs, chickens and even had a horse.  Several dogs and cats were always part of our family.  When I was in high school, I decided to pursue veterinary school so that I could be involved in animal agriculture.  While attending veterinary school, I became inspired by the human-animal bond and the challenges of helping foster and preserve that bond.  My career path changed from large animal to small/companion animal practice.

I graduated from Kansas State in 1993. After completing an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia, I practiced in Pella, Iowa alongside my wife, Dr. Perkins.  In 1997, we bought Crestview Animal Clinic in Wichita and moved back closer to home and family.  In December 2000, we merged our practice with Countryside Pet Clinic.

I have two children that walk upright and four furry kids: one Golden Retriever and three cats.

When not taking care of my patients, I enjoy hiking, ranching, and participating in church activities.

I am currently serving as a board member of the Kansas Humane Society and the Kansas State University Pet Trust.  I hold memberships in the American Veterinary Medical Association, Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, and Wichita Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Kate Perkins:

I grew up on a cattle ranch near Howard, Kansas and pronounced at age 4, while watching a cesarean section operation on a cow, that I wanted to be a veterinarian!  After graduating cum laude from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993, I practiced in Georgia and Iowa before returning to Kansas.

I have a particular interest in the human-animal bond and enjoy sharing my knowledge with schoolchildren, 4-Her's and scouting groups.  I am a member of the Wichita Veterinary Medical Association, the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Human-Animal Bond Veterinarians.

While providing the very best in healthcare for dogs and cats is my professional passion, I still enjoy involvement in my parent's cattle ranch.   Dr. Whetstone and I love our family of one dog, two cats, and two kids!  Together we enjoy outdoor activities, especially snow skiing, horseback riding at the ranch, and going to the lake.
